Informatica Deepens Microsoft Integration for AI Data
March 23, 2026 · 3 min read
Informatica has announced significant enhancements to its integration with Microsoft's cloud ecosystem, addressing a critical for organizations pursuing AI and analytics projects. The company revealed support for Microsoft Fabric Open Mirroring within its Intelligent Data Management Cloud platform, alongside the launch of a new Azure-based deployment option in Switzerland. These developments aim to streamline how enterprises ingest, manage, and govern data across Microsoft's cloud services while maintaining compliance with regional regulations.
With the April 2026 release of IDMC, Informatica now embeds Open Mirroring capabilities directly into its Cloud Data Integration and Replication services. This integration allows customers to enable the functionality with a single click while creating mass ingestion pipelines. The system can connect to over 300 enterprise data sources, feeding data into Microsoft Fabric mirrored databases where information synchronizes between Fabric OneLake and Fabric Data Warehouse.
The technical approach centers on simplifying what has traditionally been complex data pipeline management. By integrating Open Mirroring directly into IDMC, Informatica reduces the steps required to establish and maintain mirrored database connections. This integration also enables organizations to apply enterprise-grade data governance, quality controls, and master data management services to their synchronized data streams.
Krish Vitaldevara, Chief Product Officer at Informatica, noted that accelerating AI and analytics initiatives requires trusted data context to succeed. The company's approach helps ensure data is governed, high quality, and ready for analytics and AI applications at scale. Arun Ulag, President of Azure Data at Microsoft, added that the combination of Microsoft Fabric and Informatica's data management capabilities helps ensure insights and AI models are built on trusted, enterprise-grade data.
Separately, Informatica announced the establishment of a new IDMC Azure pod in Switzerland, available beginning March 2026. This deployment delivers the full suite of Informatica's cloud data management capabilities on Azure infrastructure, including advanced serverless integration as an Azure Native Service. The Switzerland-based pod specifically addresses European customer requirements for data residency, sovereignty, and regulatory compliance through local data processing.
Customers can purchase Informatica IDMC services through Microsoft Marketplace, with qualifying purchases eligible to count toward Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitments according to Microsoft program terms. This purchasing integration simplifies procurement for organizations already invested in the Microsoft ecosystem while providing flexibility in how they deploy enterprise-grade data management capabilities closer to where their data resides.
The announcements reflect how mirrored databases, sovereign cloud deployments, and AI-driven architectures are becoming central to modern enterprise strategies. By combining Fabric's capabilities with Informatica's AI-powered data management platform, joint customers can reduce complexity, increase confidence in their data, and accelerate time to value for AI and analytics initiatives. These integrations represent a deepening collaboration between the companies to simplify data integration and governance across hybrid and multicloud environments.
Support for Microsoft Fabric Open Mirroring in IDMC becomes generally available with the April 2026 release, while the Informatica IDMC Azure pod in Switzerland launches in March 2026. The company notes that pricing and packaging are subject to change, availability may vary by region, and customers should base purchasing decisions on products and services currently available.
